Little Willie G
Voice of Thee Midniters
Little Willie G voice of the Thee Midniters
Little Willie G. sang in one of the most successful bands to come out of East Los Angeles, Thee Midniters. Willie G (the G stands for Garcia) was always proud of his cultural roots and sang about it on songs such as “Chicano Power,” which was rare at the time. He also scored a hit with their cover of “The Land of a Thousand Dances.” The following year, the band had an instrumental hit with “Whittier Boulevard.” Throughout his long career in music, Willie has remained passionate about his heritage and about encouraging others to make music.
The East band from Los Angeles was influenced by “surf music to rhythm and blues to Mexican music,” embodying a Chicano identity, a “mixture of Mexican heritage but living in America.”[2] The band was one of the first to integrate horns, an unusual combination of trombone and sax, congas, keyboards and electric guitars to produce a sound similar to better known bands popular such as Chicago and Blood, Sweat & Tears.

Laurie Morvan
Blues Foundation Award winner Laurie Morvan has built a career playing guitar-driven, rocking blues, with a back pocket full of well-warranted swagger, and songs that reflect true craftsmanship.

Laurie and her band have toured extensively throughout the USA and Canada, with short stints in Mexico and Europe, lighting up the main stages of some of the industry’s most respected blues festivals, including King Biscuit Blues Festival, Calgary Bluesfest, Magic City Blues Fest, Budweiser Illinois Blues Festival, Thunder Bay Blues Festival, and many others.
